Tbe CBS SUNDAY MORNING POWER RANKINGS 1) Tracy Smith In a first, the top spot goes to someone who did not appear in the episode. Alas, apparently the Tracy Smith/Joe Burrow interview we were (I was) clamoring for never materialized while the Bengals cruising around the City of Angels, bringing a Cincinnati flavor to SoCal. (Mmm... it tastes like ice cream and a Greek Bolognese .) I went through two or three different Super Bowl bits that I was going to write up that centered around Sunday Morning 's Southwest Ohio native and resident Bengals fan . (Although, did anyone really want the Rams to win?) One idea was to write a fictional transcript of Tracy interviewing Joe Burrow and fill it in with screengrabs of the two of them. Another idea was to have every all power ranking entries 1-10 be Tracy only to have the "committee" inform me that Tracy did not actually appear in the episode before revealing the true rankings. But this is more work than I have time for and I do t...

I'm sick. That is not a metaphor, or slang, or a reference to my mental health. Most likely, I have a sinus infection. I don't have a fever, but I have a cough, congestion, and a sore throat caused by mucus drainage dripping from the back of my sinuses down into my upper throat. There's also a persistent headache and malaise. I'm pretty sure it's not COVID, but the doctor I went to didn't want to test for it... Why not just do it to be sure? I don't know... if I had to guess, it's to keep costs down at the clinic, but whatever. 2022 is off to an inauspicious start. I felt well enough to get some cleaning done around the house, but not well enough to complete the missing recaps. Since I think my first ever recap was for the January 17, I can rationalize it by saying that I still have two weeks to get it in before the one year anniversary deadline. Since I have been feeling a little crummy, I didn't something I haven't done in years. I watched most...

Having just finished the post for the Forever Young special, I'm on a roll. So let's head straight into the Christmas episode of Sunday Morning . For an intro, I'd just like to say that I love Christmas music. I was raised listening to Christmas records by the Osmands, Julie Andrews, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on a Fisher Price record player. At some point, I digitized most of our records, but since I've been so busy traveling for work, I haven't had a chance to bust out the records or MP3s and sustain myself on pure Christmas nostalgia, so that's probably my plan for this week. I just realized that I could do that while I write, so I have just put on the Osmonds. In a few minutes, I'll be really rockin' out to Sleigh Ride. The truth is that the record player I recorded all the music from a turntable that ran a bit fast so all the music I recorded is pitch shifted up a little and of course the crackle of record player is prominent. I didn't lea...

I went to see a movie today. My intro was going to be a short review of the movie King Richard . But about 30 minutes into a perfectly pleasant viewing experience a group of unsupervised kids somewhere in the range of 11-15 decided to take up residence directly behind me in the theater. They were not interested in watching the movie. In additional to fairly constant chit-chat, exited and entered the theater no fewer than 10 times as the film was running and several times there was a persistent sound of rustling plastic bags as if they were trying to find something in the dark. There was also many flashes of cell phone lights that I saw (and they were sitting behind me). I did turn around and voice my frustration with the youths and at one point got a manager who gave them a warning that they'd be kicked out if he had to come back. This only moderately improved their behavior throughout the second half of the film. In the end, I did not opt to go for the manager a second time. I cou...
