CBS Sunday Morning Power Rankings

First, I want to say I was not entirely happy with the way last week's post turned out. Sunday Morning gave me the feels. I wanted to try and convey all that, but I can barely go back and read what I wrote. If I did, I think I would find it overwritten and layered with too much angst. That's probably what I get for focusing too much on myself. I regret everything. I regret nothing. I am the bottomless void at which everyone looks but no one pays attention. I am the internet. Anyway, another week, another day (or two - I'll probably head off to bed before I can finish this) late. 8 weeks a year I get distracted by tennis. Whether or not this recap gets posted tonight or Monday depends entirely on the Australian Open 4th round. I'm trying to follow Jessica Pegula v. Elina Svitolina, Jen Brady (and Jen Brady's forehand (TM)) v. Donna Vekic, and Daniil Medvedev vs. Mackenzie "Mackie" McDonald (a real name). Also, Coco Gauff and Caty McNally are playing a 3rd round doubles match. It is a distinct possibility that the recap gets pushed to Monday for a second straight week due to sports. At least this time, it would be for a sport I'm genuinely interested in. I'm also keeping an eye on my window to see if the snow starts to fall - 7+ inches expected over the next 36 hours. I've let you down, nameless, faceless internet reader. Tell me, who is going to read a CBS Sunday Morning recap blog on Monday or Tuesday? I know my Sunday evening posts are already pushing a deadline. My dedicated (imagined) army of readers demand punctuality. CBS Sunday Morning represents the essence of Sunday and so the definitive recap should come on a Sunday. The day to rest, relax, recuperate, and rejuvenate for the week ahead. The Jews (and Seventh Day Adventists, I think) say that Saturday - the end of the week - is the day for rest. Apparently, mainstream Christianity messed it all up by transferring the Sabbath to the Sunday thus making the first day of the week the day of rest. I say, why not both? Two thoughts on the religiosity of weekend rest: A) The Resurrection asserts that Jesus rose on the Third Day, but I can count and Sunday is two days after Friday. So last week, I had a big preamble about sitting down to have a cup of hot chocolate before I actually got to the power rankings. This was what we like to call "writer's block". I didn't have a hook to get into the rankings last week. It is probable I would benefit from an editor, but you get to see how this sausage is made stream of consciousness style as I sometimes struggle to write my way into some coherent thoughts. This week, I'll take the direct approach. All I'll say before starting is this is a tough week to sort out. Oh. Hello there. I was just sitting down to a cup of hot chocolate. Some people would say the weather outside is miserable. It's cold and gray (well black now that it is night) and freezing rain and ice is supposed to make for a messy commute tomorrow morning. But me? I love winter weather. Well, maybe not this particular vein of winter weather. I can't vigorously disagree that it is miserable out. But I'm a winter person. I love cold weather and snow. There are a lot of terrible things associated with climate change, but the personal thing I'll miss the most is the snow. I already miss the snow. Significant snowfalls used to be a thing that happened 2-3 times a winter. Now it happens ever 2-3 years. But yesterday it was bright and sunny. CBS Sunday Morning may be my favorite thing on television. In an age where everything is curated (usually by an algorithm) and supposedly tailored to my interests, CBS Sunday gives me an hour and a half to slow down a bit and relax and maybe learn a few things. I never know what is going to be covered in a given episode. There are recurring segments to expect, but it is the stories that I nothing about going into and would probably never seek out on my own that are my favorites. After watching regularly for some time I've grown attached to the show's regular correspondents both for their personalities and the stories they tell. It is out of appreciation for their work that I present the CBS Sunday Morning Power Rankings . Please know that these rankings are for my amusement, but if you happen to stumble upon this corner of the internet, feel free to leave your thoughts as well.
