This be the entry for the final Sunday Morning episode of 2022. (Arrr, a pirate be I, says I.) I suppose the end of the year can be a time for reflection, which is where the whole idea of New Year's resolutions come from - what can I do better in 2022? As a Catholic, I'm already supposed to be pondering that for Lent, Advent, and, you know, pretty much any time I'm awake . I don't really believe in New Year's resolutions. The times I've wanted to make a change in my life, I just made them. I've been most successful at getting active and losing weight. Of course, what has helped the most with that is finding a network of friends that encouraged such pursuits. Sort of a chicken or egg thing though, because I found said friend group primarily because I was trying to get into biking in the first place. The group of friends definitely helped it stick though. Other things I tried to change or improve about myself have been more hit or miss. There's nothing a...

Having just finished the post for the Forever Young special, I'm on a roll. So let's head straight into the Christmas episode of Sunday Morning . For an intro, I'd just like to say that I love Christmas music. I was raised listening to Christmas records by the Osmands, Julie Andrews, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on a Fisher Price record player. At some point, I digitized most of our records, but since I've been so busy traveling for work, I haven't had a chance to bust out the records or MP3s and sustain myself on pure Christmas nostalgia, so that's probably my plan for this week. I just realized that I could do that while I write, so I have just put on the Osmonds. In a few minutes, I'll be really rockin' out to Sleigh Ride. The truth is that the record player I recorded all the music from a turntable that ran a bit fast so all the music I recorded is pitch shifted up a little and of course the crackle of record player is prominent. I didn't lea...

Forever Young (Prime Time Special November 28, 2021)

I traveled to the Northeast for work this week. Since I am not a salesperson (or on the business development team as is our company's preferred jargon), I felt there was minimal utility to my presence in what was essentially a week of customer hand-holding. Once again my grand plans of playing catch-up with recaps of the "lost" episodes of Sunday Morning were left to die on the vine. With the holidays coming up and real time off built in, I hope to fill in the gaps in the last 12 days of the year so that I can put together a complete year in review. This will take me approximately 23 days to complete and once again put me behind on future reviews, but I'm keeping stats. So I will eschew the normal rambling and move straight to... The CBS SUNDAY MORNING POWER RANKINGS: PRIME TIME EDITION Yes, Sunday Morning did a prime time special on November 28. The theme was ostensibly " a one-hour primetime special exploring the wonders, rewards, and challenges of growing old...

I really do have a goal of having a recap posted for every episode by the end of the year. However, my job decided that I needed to travel to Phoenix, St. Louis, and this week East Hartford in a span of 5 weeks. Not to mention several other visits to spots local-ish to our office  - meaning within an hour's drive. I somewhat disagree with the assessment that I am required for all these trips. Maybe I shouldn't complain. I'm not sales so these are really the first work trips I've had since Februrary 2020. Then something pandemic-y happened in March 2020. There's still an ongoing pandemic, so if I come back with COVID (managed to avoid it thusfar) I'm going to be pissed. I'm not that worried - I'm boosted and whatnot, but the proximity to Christmas is such that any quarantine now has the potential to start interfering with holiday plans. I always think I'm going to have enough downtime to knock out a recap or two during one of these trips, but it never...
